Psychodynamic Case Consultation
Deepening Psychodynamic Processes in the Digital “Frame” of Telehealth
|
My case consultation invites clinicians to deepen their understanding of the unconscious dimensions of the therapeutic relationship through the lens of virtual work. Using the telehealth setting as a living laboratory, we will explore the subtle transference and countertransference processes that emerge in digital space — including shifts in presence, absence, intimacy, and distance.
Consultation will focus on cultivating each clinician’s unique therapeutic voice and capacity to think and feel psychoanalytically within the immediacy of the online frame. Emphasis is placed on clinical curiosity, emotional attunement, and the creative use of the therapist’s subjective experience as a tool for insight. Dustin Kahoud, Psy.D. is a clinical psychologist and psychoanalytic psychotherapist in private practice in Great Neck, NY. He teaches and supervises at Adelphi University’s Derner Institute, LIU Post’s Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program, and the Training Institute for Mental Health. His supervisory approach integrates contemporary relational and group analytic thinking, with a focus on the therapist’s use of self and the transformative potential of virtual therapeutic spaces. Dr. Kahoud is co-author of Sex, Drugs and Creativity: The Search for a Magical Solution (Routledge, 2019). |
