Dustin Kahoud, Psy.D. is a clinical psychologist, psychoanalyst, and certified group psychotherapist in private practice in Great Neck, New York. His work is grounded in contemporary psychodynamic and relational approaches, with an emphasis on the complexities of the therapeutic relationship and the creative dimensions of the mind. Currently, his practices and teaching provides a focus on the use of technology and the virtual space of the telehealth platform for uncovering unconscious relational processes and adapting the essentials of online psychotherapy to the challenges of personal growth.
Dr. Kahoud earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from Long Island University (LIU Post) and completed postgraduate certificates in both Adult Psychoanalysis and Group Psychotherapy at Adelphi University’s Derner Institute. He teaches and supervises at several New York–area training programs, including the Derner Institute, LIU Post’s Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program, and the Training Institute for Mental Health, where he offers courses on ego psychology and relational psychoanalysis. In addition to his clinical and teaching work, Dr. Kahoud is the co-author of Sex, Drugs and Creativity: The Search for a Magical Solution (Routledge, 2019) and has published widely on the intersections of creativity, addiction, and the unconscious. He is a chair of the Adelphi Society for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy’s Meet the Author program where he helps connect the therapeutic community to relevant developments in literature on psychodynamic approaches. Dr. Kahoud’s clinical practice provides psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, and group psychotherapy for adults with depression, anxiety and mood disorders. In his clinical supervision groups for mental health clinicians he provides consultation to psychotherapists seeking to deepen their psychodynamic understanding and therapeutic presence. Dr. Kahoud is Adjunct Professor and Clinical Supervisor at the psychology doctoral programs of Adelphi University, LIU Post, and the Training Institute for Mental Health and maintains a private practice of psychotherapy and psychoanalysis based in Great Neck, NY. |
